NECHV Making a Difference on the Homefront
NBC Nightly News launched a new series called “Making a Difference on the Homefront” an entire year’s worth of programming in an effort to shine a light on veterans, military families and the issues affecting them across the country. The first report in this series, broadcast on NBC Nightly News, June 23rd, features the employment and training program here at the New England Center for Homeless Veterans.
As tens of thousands of American military veterans struggle to blend into life back at home, finding a job in this tough economy can be an intimidating process. NBC’s Peter Alexander spent a day here in our Veterans Training School and profiles this program which is working to help ease the process for thousands of veterans who are re-entering the job market.
5 DAYS OF SERVICE
An inspiring look at the NECHV through the eyes of our college students
A group of students, along with a faculty advisor from James Madison University (JMU) in Harrisonburg, Virginia spent 5 days of service at the NECHV in March as part of their alternative spring break week from college. The students donated their time, working alongside our veterans in week-long project assignments.
During their time here one of the students, Levi May, produced this inspiring video along with our veteran clients.
We thank JMU and the Safe Rides program along with the students who participated for their time and efforts to benefit the veterans we serve.
