As the eldest son of a disabled Vietnam veteran, Joshua Grzegorzewski has long been familiar with the assistance needs faced by veterans in reacclimating to life away from combat. "I grew up with stories of the terrible treatment our soldiers received from American civilians upon their return from Vietnam following long months exposed to horrible violence, death, and destruction while living under constant vigilance, tension, and fear," explained Grzegorzewski, "I had to do something to show our troops currently deployed overseas and the veterans of my father's generation that their service is appreciated and their sacrifices were not for naught."

With that sentiment, RunningBull's Run to Honor America's Veterans was launched to promote the service of these soldiers and to raise awareness of the plight of the homeless American veterans. A 300+ mile long multi-stage event, RunningBull's Run to Honor America's Veterans consists of thematically linked endurance events to honor and thank our military personnel past, present, and future for their services to, and sacrifices for, the people and ideals of the United States of America while also raising awareness to the plight of the 150,000+ homeless American veterans.

Grzegorzewski selected the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans (NESHV) as the beneficiary of this campaign due to the history of success demonstrated by its programs and services in assisting veterans solve the problems that led to their homelessness within their substance-free environment.

"Running hundreds of miles outdoors through the bitter New England winter has helped me remain focused and motivated while training for my multiple marathons, because our homeless veterans were enduring these same conditions all day, every day," said Grzegorzewski, "and I hope to help put an end to all that through my efforts."

Grzegorzewski, a former New Jersey high school 400m hurdle champion, who now resides in Somerville, MA works as a transportation engineer with the Federal Highway Administration. Joshua has been a member of the Team Aquaphor Healing Ointment endurance athlete team since 2006, and still hopes to gain additional sponsorships to help support and underwrite this tribute of honor to America's Veterans. The first stage in the 300-mile RunningBull Run began on March 30th at the Bataan Death March Memorial Marathon held at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, where he placed first in the civilian division. On April 21st Joshua next competed in the famed Boston Marathon completing at 2,519 overall, which placed him as one of the top 12% of finishers.

Coming up in May he will be running as Pace Team leader for the New Jersey Marathon before undertaking the 70-mile Western States Endurance Run challenge over Memorial Day Weekend. He has also been confirmed as Pace Team Leader for the US Air Force Marathon in September.

Joshua is also one of four featured athletes this month, on the Team Aquaphor website, where he discusses his campaign to support the NESHV. That report is available at the following link: http://www.teamaquaphor.com/Page1050.aspx
