NECHV and Allied Barton: A Success Story

The Veterans Training School (VTS) at NECHV has a long-standing partnership with AlliedBarton Security Services, which was highlighted on the National Veterans Technical Assistance Center (NVTAC) website. NVTAC provides technical assistance to grantees of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Veterans Employment and Training Service (VETS). NECHV is a former grantee of the VETS Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP), and was cited as an example of a former grantee that has forged a successful, mutually beneficial partnership with an employer.

The partnership was forged by VTS Employment Department Manager John Silva and Charles Franklin, a VA employee who was a recruiter for AlliedBarton at the time. Together they created a system through which Veterans who graduated from NECHV’s Professional Protection Officer Course would have the opportunity to join AlliedBarton.

The Professional Protection Officer Course continues to offer Veterans the highest standard in training under the guidance of Tony Padilla, the course Training Manager. Veterans are prepared for the International Foundation for Protection Officers exam through a 6-week, 4-hour per day training schedule. Many of the graduates earn a perfect score on the exam as a result of the training they’ve received, and all graduates who pass the exam are offered the opportunity to interview with AlliedBarton.

NECHV is incredibly grateful to Silva, Padilla, and all VTS staff for their hard work and commitment to preparing Veterans for jobs in their communities, and to AlliedBarton for continually offering employment opportunities to Veterans.
